Blue Hill Community Schools has been awarded $133,263 under the School Safety and Security-Related Infrastructure Grant for Keyless Classroom Access Fobs. The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) administered the competitive School Safety and Security Grant as part of the 2023 legislative appropriation of $10 million focused on infrastructure. NDE's stated goal is to foster secure and conducive learning environments for students across the state.
NDE had 217 applicants, including 162 public and 55 nonpublic schools, apply for a portion of the 10 million dollars in funds. NDE staff with knowledge of appropriate school safety strategies reviewed and evaluated each application. A total of 171 school districts were awarded funding. Work on installing the fob access system in the Blue Hill school has already begun.
